Tranquility, Culture, and the Call of the Bush

Nancie’s Favorite Moments:

“Seeing the baby wildebeest being born. Experiencing a day in the life of the peaceful, tranquility of the bush. Hearing the Kenyan's roll their r's. The Samburu tribe. Hearing an elephant drink.”

Was there a particular camp or lodge that was the highlight of your trip and why?

Lewa and Sarara. Lewa was beautiful - a slice of heaven! Everything great (hosts, owners, room, food, guide). Hosts and owners incredibly interesting and engaging. Lots to see and do. Lots of variety in terrain and wildlife. Beautiful setting on top of hill. Unique architecture. Earth pods! Proximity to village and park. Sarara - Unbelievable, deep cultural place. So different. Loved learning about the people and culture. Singing wells and village visit in same day - a trip highlight! Giraffe in am and sing to them. Hosts very engaging and spent time educating us at meals. Architecture of buildings amazing. Disguise water spouts and spigots. Common area stunning with pool and water hole. Nice place to spend 1/2 day relaxing. Very hot. Didn’t love that. Could have spent 4 nights

Tell us about any specific individuals (guides, camp staff, etc.) who made your safari extra special.

Sonya was a gem (our guide at Sarara). Sai was the perfect guide for a first safari experience - very knowledgeable about plants, animals, birds, culture, etc. Seki was the best last guide - very relaxing and simply loved everything around him. Darren, Emma, Sophie and Calum at Lewa made us feel at home. Michael, Ann and Robert at Sarara provided us with a ton of cultural information without it feeling like school.
