Saruni Basecamp Foundation

Saruni Basecamp Foundation is a Kenyan non-profit linked to the Saruni Basecamp safari company, created to protect key wildlife landscapes while improving the wellbeing and resilience of local communities. It works mainly in community-owned conservancies across the Maasai Mara, Samburu, the Northern Kenya coast, and Amboseli, focusing on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and climate adaptation.

The foundation’s approach is to help establish and strengthen well-governed community conservancies, secure and restore habitats, and support livelihood projects so that local landowners benefit directly from conservation. By acting as a bridge between donors, impact investors, and local partners, it channels funding and technical support into initiatives that simultaneously safeguard wildlife corridors and build socio-economic resilience for Maasai and Samburu communities.
