Hirola Conservation Program

HCP (Hirola Conservation Program) is an indigenous, non-profit organization based in Garissa County, Kenya. The project is primarily dedicated to promoting conservation of hirola antelope (Beatragus hunteri) in eastern Kenya.

The project originated from a global concern about the decline in hirola populations coupled with a limited conservation effort, as the hirola occur along the border regions and past conservation efforts had been limited to opportunistic field visits.

Establish and sustain a conservation programme to make lasting contributions to the future of the hirola antelope and of the local communities within the hirola’s geographic range.

Our Vision
