Selinda Explorers Camp

Selinda Explorers Camp, part of the Great Plains Conservation Explorer Collection, is set along the banks of the Selinda Spillway within the private Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana. Positioned in prime predator habitat, the camp occupies a carefully selected location identified over years of exploration by National Geographic Explorers and Great Plains founders, Dereck and Beverly Joubert.

Designed to reflect the spirit of classic African expeditions, Selinda Explorers Camp offers an intimate and authentic safari experience. Guests can unwind with their feet in the sand, sharing stories of the day’s wildlife encounters in a setting that feels both personal and timeless. Inspired by the Jouberts’ own mobile filming and research camps, the camp is particularly well suited to families seeking a private and immersive Botswana safari.

Subtly tucked beneath the shade of riverine forest, the camp embodies a traditional explorer aesthetic, featuring Persian carpets, brass and copper accents, and handcrafted details. Campaign-style furniture made from recycled hardwoods is complemented by soft furnishings sourced from Zanzibar and the East, creating a warm, textured atmosphere.

Accommodation consists of three guest tents and one two-bedroom family tent, each elevated on wooden platforms. The custom-designed canvas tents blend comfort with an authentic safari feel, featuring well-appointed bedrooms, private verandas, and en-suite bathrooms with hot-water showers and flush toilets.
