Tanzania, Kenya & Rwanda: Luxury Safari for Couples on the Move
We designed this itinerary for a couple that sought exceptional wildlife, luxury camps, intimate and private guiding throughout East Africa. With both momentum and comfort in mind, the journey creates opportunities to connect with the wilderness in ways they could have only dreamed of! Moving through Africa’s most celebrated areas, from Ngorongoro Crater and the northern Serengeti to the Masai Mara and finishing with gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
Their safari begins in Tanzania’s cooler Ngorongoro highlands, positioned on the crater rim. The couple got to take in the extraordinary views of the vast bowl, where the air is crisp and the clouds float across the crater rim, giving a feeling of being a part of something that is ancient and vibrant. Descending into this vast volcanic caldera where the wildlife is remarkably concentrated is a sight to behold. Here the couple encounter buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, lion and even the black rhino while flamingos along with other bird life flocked the soda lakes.From there, the couple transitions into the open grasslands of the northern Serengeti and are rewarded with some of the most spectacular game viewing imaginable with the Great Migration. Traveling during migration season offers excellent opportunities to witness the drama of the Great Migration, including the possibility of the world-famous Mara River crossings. Beyond the migrating herds, the northern Serengeti is home to exceptional resident wildlife, from powerful lion prides and elusive leopards to cheetahs scanning the open plains.
The duo heads out to the Mara where there are limited vehicles and less interruptions. Since the conservancy is private, the couple has the freedom to enjoy guided walks and night drives on top of their already exciting game drives. With an exceptional concentration of wildlife and expert guiding, the couple enjoyed unforgettable encounters with cheetahs, lions, and leopards. Each sighting unfolded as its own story, creating lasting memories of the Mara.
There is a dramatic shift at their next stop Rwanda. They have a short stopover in Rwanda’s vibrant capital city of Kigali where they embarked on a Kigali City tour that includes a somber visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and a neighborhood walk. From here they depart on a 3-hour scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, passing by rolling hills, cultivated fields and villagesas the volcanic mountains gradually come into view. For this active couple, the gorilla trek is the pinnacle of their safari itinerary. Trekking to locate gorilla is immersive and physical and unpredictable in the best way. With two gorilla treks included in their itinerary, the couple has the rare opportunity to encounter different gorilla families, each with its own distinct dynamics and personalities.
