Two friends were looking to experience their very first safari together, and what unfolded was a thoughtfully designed journey through Rwanda and Tanzania. Their story beings in Kigali as a welcome to Africa. Choosing to spend more time here than most, they settled into the city’s leafy hills allowing themselves to rest and prepare, before departing for their primate trekking experience. They explored the city on a guided tour, including a moving visit to the Genocide Memorial.
Next they traveled to Volcanoes National Park, where the route is scenic with emerald shining slopes and peaks shrouded in mist; the perfect stage for one of the most profound wildlife encounters imaginable. Here, anticipation gave way to awe as they entered true primate territory. They got to experience the majestic gorilla during their first trek and the Golden Monkey on their second, nothing short of a transformative experience!
Leaving Rwanda behind, the friends continued on to Tanzania, where the scenery shifted from lush mountains to vast, open plains. While gorilla trekking is often considered the pinnacle of wildlife encounters, what awaited them next was equally awe-inspiring.
In the northern Serengeti, they witnessed the Great Migration at its most dramatic. Positioned near the Mara River, they had front-row seats to one of the natural world’s most iconic events. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra gathered along the riverbanks, hesitating before making the perilous crossing through crocodile-filled waters. It was a raw, powerful, and deeply moving spectacle that fully lived up to its reputation.
