Looking for a truly unique way to experience the bush? The Skybeds, set deep within the Khwai Private Reserve, offer something entirely out of the ordinary. Each “room” is a three storey raised platform overlooking the wildlife rich plains, rustic in feel yet effortlessly stylish. On the lower level, you’ll find a bathroom with a flushing loo and dressing area, while the top floor reveals the highlight: a spacious double bed, draped in crisp white linens and a feather duvet, completely open to the stars.

While the night skies are mesmerizing, it’s worth keeping an eye on the ground below. The Skybeds overlook an active waterhole, where sightings can include wild dog, lion, elephant and hyena, all in a single evening. Sleep may be optional, but the experience is unforgettable.

Your stay also contributes directly to conservation and community initiatives within the Khwai Village. Through projects such as pre school support and a cultural village, your visit helps uplift and empower the local community.

With just three Skybeds accommodating a maximum of six guests, the experience remains intimate and exclusive, with each platform thoughtfully positioned for privacy. Elevated above the plains, the upper deck serves as your open air bedroom, complete with mosquito netting, warm duvets and hot water bottles for cooler nights. A second level bathroom includes an enclosed shower, flushing loo and private changing space, while a dome tent with twin beds offers comfort in inclement weather.

Dining is relaxed and atmospheric, with wholesome meals enjoyed around the campfire or on the raised dining platform, accompanied by the sounds of the bush and perhaps a perfectly chilled G and T.

Though undeniably romantic, the Skybeds are not just for couples. They are ideal for small groups booking exclusively, and families with children aged 15 and older are welcome.
