Old Mondoro

“Mondoro” means lion in the Goba language. The camp is named in honor of a mythical white lion said to have once roamed nearby. Owned and operated by the Cumings family, pioneers behind nearby Chiawa Camp, Old Mondoro offers a more rustic expression of the same exceptional safari heritage.

Set beneath towering winter thorn trees and beside the mighty Zambezi River, Old Mondoro feels less like a camp within the wilderness and more like a place that belongs to it. Wildlife moves freely through the landscape and becomes part of the rhythm of each day.
