Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge

Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge accommodates up to 24 guests across 10 expansive, well-spaced, and fully private glass-fronted suites, along with a two-bedroom private villa, Little Madikwe. Scattered discreetly along the hillside and naturally camouflaged among Tamboti trees, the suites are connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways, creating a sense of seclusion while remaining easily accessible.

The central area overlooks a busy waterhole and includes an inviting lounge, bar, wine cellar, television room, dining room, and a pool deck designed for relaxed afternoons between safari activities. Positioned on a gentle rise, the lodge’s main space is cooled by fans beneath a dramatic vaulted thatch ceiling, supported by the sculptural, twisted trunks of leadwood trees. Children aged 10 and over are welcome in the main lodge, while Little Madikwe welcomes families with children of all ages.

Set within the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, Madikwe Hills offers an exceptional wilderness escape within easy reach of Johannesburg by air or road. Covering approximately 75,000 hectares of bushveld up to the Botswana border, Madikwe is among South Africa’s largest and most sought-after game reserves.

The reserve supports an impressive diversity of wildlife, including 86 mammal species (among them the Big Five), more than 400 bird species, and 104 tree species. Guests can experience this remarkable landscape on twice-daily game drives led by experienced field guides and trackers, or on gentle bush walks that offer a more intimate perspective of the African wilderness.
