Chisa Busanga

Chisa Busanga is an intimate, four‑suite camp set on a tree‑island in the heart of Zambia’s remote Busanga Plains, designed from the ground up to feel like you’re sleeping in a bird’s nest above the savannah. Each elevated “Nest” is modeled on the intricate weaver bird nests that dot the surrounding trees, with woven twig façades and circular openings that blend the structures into the landscape while framing wide‑screen views over the floodplains.

Perched about four metres off the ground, the nests function as luxurious treehouses with private observation decks, indoor‑outdoor showers, and thoughtfully compact interiors that use natural textures, hand‑crafted lighting, and soft canvas to maintain a light, organic feel. The camp runs on solar power and even uses electric game‑drive vehicles and other low‑impact activities, so the experience is notably quiet and environmentally sensitive, enhancing the sense of immersion.

Wildlife viewing here is exceptional: the surrounding floodplains and dambos are rich in plains game such as puku, red lechwe, wildebeest, buffalo, and roan, which in turn draw predators including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, and hyena. From your nest or out on drive you also tap into one of southern Africa’s great birding areas, with hundreds of recorded species and regular sightings of wattled and crowned cranes, herons, and raptors, reinforcing the camp’s “safari in the sky” character.
